I assume this was carved for a child in order to do exactly that--and its tip appears to have taken a stab or two

but with the date making this young woman posing as if ready to soar feel like a harbinger of the great crash just a few months away

but also seems like it could be quite a useful one for color reference and inspiration

but there are plenty left to do the job of sweeping off the work table

I've become a bit obsessed with folk objects carved from marble--the carving of stone with such formal connotations in a very unclassical manner really really appeals to me

With a Loving Arm Around Snow-woman, c. 1940s Evocatively Flawed Velox Snapshot wooden wagon I assume this was carvedI really love this one, found in Maine this week for the very excellent snow woman pictured, and for the protective arm around her neck, and for the fact that the flaw int he print makes it appear rather as if she is being beamed up by the heavens or melted by an intense ray of light with her tilted perfectly toward it. The expression on the face of the boy holding her is pretty great too. 5 7 8" x 3 3 4", good condition, glossy.
